Qualifying Financial Pathways & Thresholds
Real estate is no longer an eligible asset class for new residency applications. The current framework welcomes capital into Spain's financial and corporate ecosystems across four qualifying channels.
Spanish public debt instruments maintained for a minimum of 5 years. Highest capital threshold — lowest operational complexity.
Shares of closed-end investment funds or venture capital funds (Fondos de Capital Riesgo) set up and actively registered in Spain.
Stocks or shares of active Spanish companies with a verifiable, real business presence and operational activity inside Spain.
Stable bank deposits within authorized Spanish financial institutions. Most liquid and straightforward capital deployment option.
The Enterprise Pathway
For founders expanding their corporate footprint, Spain allows residency via a significant business project. There is no fixed minimum investment threshold. Instead, the project is evaluated by the relevant Economic and Commercial Office of the consular district on qualitative economic metrics.
Unlike the Entrepreneur Visa (which requires an ENISA certificate), the Enterprise Pathway is assessed directly by the consular authority — making it a distinct, separate route for high-impact corporate expansions.
Job Creation
A clear, structured plan for generating direct, sustainable employment positions inside Spain.
Socioeconomic Impact
A demonstrable positive contribution to the geographical area where the venture will operate.
Innovation Alignment
Strong alignment with scientific, technological, or industrial innovation that advances Spain's economic interests.

Property is out.

Organic Law 1/2025 permanently closed the €500K property route. The two remaining pathways are structurally stronger for serious investors.
At year 5, your legal status permanently uncouples from the investment — you can liquidate freely.
